Branches
The Irish name Cuidiú means care and support for all parents with bumps or babes, tots or teens.
The majority of the membership is concentrated in Dublin and Cork but Cuidiú is very much a national organisation.
Over the years branches have evolved in many different ways. Some faded in particular areas as children got older; others got a new lease of life and reformed again; others grew so much they split into a number of branches. We are always interested in supporting new Cuidiu branches or smaller Cuidiu groups in any part of the country.
Cuidiú branches run many and varied activities for families and minders. Please remember, however, that we are a self help organisation offering mutual support. The success of our organisation depends on the principle of give and take. Obviously we do not expect members with new babies or pressing family commitments to join a committee or run a toddler morning, but we do appreciate input from people who may have benefited from our support.
Each branch has its own committee to organise and run its events. The branches produce their own newsletters giving full details of events and services on offer. Although the branches are autonomous, the ethos and principles by which they are run is overseen by a central Council. The Council looks after the training of Antenatal teachers, Breastfeeding Counsellors and Postnatal support Facilitators. It also looks after publications, insurance, public relations and national projects. A National Newsletter is sent to every member quarterly. In the near future each Branch will host its own website linked to this National Cuidiu Website which will increase access for parents to that information relevant to their locality.
Membership of Cuidiú costs €25 per annum. In addition, most branches ask for a small contribution for each meeting/activity attended. It's best to join through your local branch if there is one near you but you can download a membership form here. This form also includes a bank instruction form for your membership subs to be paid by standing order.
