Cuidiú – Irish Childbirth Trust

Welcome to our website.

Cuidiú means caring support in Irish. We are a voluntary parent-to-parent support group and our mission of ‘information, education and support’ encourages a confident, positive approach to parenting, empowering parents to make informed choices about issues from pregnancy right up to adolescence.

We provide support services in Antenatal and Birth Preparation, Breastfeeding, Postnatal and Parenthood.  Cuidiú is a nationwide group and we have a diverse programme of events and activities running throughout the country in local branches including antenatal classes, breastfeeding support groups, mother and baby groups and postnatal support groups

We also operate an Experience Register which is a list of parents who have or had a particular experience(s) and are willing to talk and share with others about them.

Cuidiú publishes a Consumer Guide to Maternity Services which gives information on every Maternity Hospital and Unit in the Republic of Ireland - an invaluable resource for expectant parents.

Cuidiú is involved in the promotion of breastfeeding in collaboration with the HSE and other voluntary groups, particularly during National Breastfeeding Week.  Cuidiú annually hosts a Normal Birth Conference aimed at Health Professionals and in 2008 Cuidiú will host its inaugural National Conference.

As a group, we are currently undergoing an exciting period of change and development with many new activities and newly trained Antenatal Teachers, Breastfeeding Counsellors and Parenthood Supporters coming onstream.  It is a great time to get involved and find out how Cuidiú can support you.

Cuidiú – Irish Childbirth Trust welcomes all Parents.  As a family grows and its needs expand, the Irish Childbirth Trust offers caring support and understanding to help make parenthood the joy it should be.
